Rest often. Rest before you get tired.

According to the Mayo Clinic, fatigue can, most of the time, be traced to one or more lifestyle issues, such as poor sleep habits or lack of exercise.

Fatigue can also be caused by a medicine you’re taking or, not surprisingly, linked to depression.

Sometimes fatigue is a symptom of an illness that needs treatment.

But often, fatigue is simply caused by working too much and not getting enough rest.

In case you don’t think this warrants serious concern, consider the negative effects and risks of worker fatigue on you and your business.

What Are the Effects of Worker Fatigue?

Worker fatigue increases the risk for illnesses and injuries. Accident and injury rates are 18% greater during evening shifts and 30% greater during night shifts when compared to day shifts. Research indicates that working 12 hours per day is associated with a 37% increased risk of injury. In a 2005 study reporting on a survey of 2,737 medical residents, every extended shift scheduled in a month increased by 16.2 % monthly risk of a motor…
